all ashessecluded and alone wrapped in this naked need I shield my eyes to hide the wretchedness behind the shadow of my hand sky overhead so clear it throbs with blue the heat searing my salt-crusted skin like the kiss of a farmer's brand humming to myself, soft and low "sweet jane, sweet sweet jane" drunk on the heat wave upon wave upon wave of heat I become dry like the scourged desert earth the wind picks up blows the invisible fire through me my lungs explode with ashes I'm covered with soot from head to toe light as burned feathers, I'm almost airbornall ashes
